Hello there, my name is Mala!

A little bit about me:
Growing up in Jamaica and Florida, food and hospitality have always been a significant part of my life. I pursued this passion by attending culinary school, then landing my first job as a line cook in Miami Beach. Over the years, I've worked as a Chef de Partie at Four Seasons Hotel & Resorts in both Miami and St. Louis, and as a Restaurant Chef at The Ritz-Carlton Clayton, MO. Most recently, I had the privilege of serving as Executive Sous Chef for The Breslin Bar and Dining Room and Quality Italian in New York, under the guidance of 3 Michelin starred chefs.

My business:
After 14 years in the industry, I decided to launch my own venture, "Chef Mala Celebrations," in March 2022. This allowed me to pursue my true passion for working with individuals and creating meaningful moments through food. By utilizing high-quality, purposeful ingredients and adapting to dietary restrictions or preferences, I can help bring your event to life. Whether it's through Event Catering, Group Cooking Lessons, or Dietary Accommodations, my objective is to make your experience both delicious and unforgettable.

Our wedding day was made perfect by Chef Mala! Despite the challenges of hosting the ceremony in our New York City apartment, Chef Mala provided a unique and stunningly crafted dinner that left us speechless. She was exceptionally imaginative when creating the menu and worked diligently with us to meet our requirements for decor, rentals, and space. We were pleasantly surprised that she was able to accomplish a 5 course meal for 20 people in such a small space!

Mala exceeded my expectations in every way! Despite the short notice, she fulfilled my request for a bespoke dinner for my mother with care and creativity. My encounter with Chef Mala was truly one of a kind. During the pandemic, I wanted to treat my best friend to a Michelin-worthy experience at home and Mala delivered from beginning to end. She was prompt, professional and accommodating, crafting a menu that perfectly catered to our dietary restrictions and utilized our own kitchen tools. On the day of the dinner, Mala shared her vast knowledge of ingredients and techniques as she prepared our meal. The food was outstanding, surpassing even what I've experienced in a three-star Michelin restaurant, and the whole experience was more affordable and casual. We were able to relax, drink cocktails on the patio, dance, and enjoy a movie together in the most comfortable environment. Highly recommended, 10/10, can't wait to do it again!
