Music for Young Children
When teaching, I take a holistic approach, considering the body, mind, and soul of each student. This includes not only identifying their preferred learning style (be it visual, aural or kinetic) but also tailoring my teaching accordingly. I also incorporate prayer into my teaching practice as a way to show care for my students and their families. Ultimately, I commit everything I do to the Lord for His glory and have even developed close relationships with students and their families as a result.
As a piano teacher, I prefer to use creative methods of teaching rather than a traditional style. I incorporate various activities such as playing actual music on the piano, using drums or maracas to teach rhythm, dancing to show mood and tempo or even employing puppets for younger students. Additionally, I have designed music games, including board games, card games, and puzzles that are often seasonal in nature.
What I love about my job is the opportunity to teach each student according to their unique learning style while also incorporating creative methods, such as solfege hand signals, whiteboard illustrations, sound banks, and a variety of rhythm instruments. I continuously strive to improve my teaching, performing, and marketing skills.
