As someone who has played the violin for 20 years, I find great joy in passing on my knowledge and experience to my students. I am here to support you in achieving your objectives, whether you want to learn a new skill for fun or work diligently towards a performance or audition. Distinctive qualities: ~I have obtained degrees from renowned music institutions and have worked with violin teachers regarded as some of the best in the nation. I hold dual master’s degrees in violin performance and chamber music from the University of Michigan under Danielle Belen, a former teaching assistant to Robert Lipsett and recipient of the 2008 Sphinx Competition. I also earned my bachelor’s degree in violin performance from Oberlin Conservatory under David Bowlin, a founding member of the International Contemporary Ensemble and winner of the 2003 Washington International Competition. ~Although my background is classical, I possess the ability to perform other genres such as pop music. ~My teaching approach is holistic and well-rounded as I have studied topics such as brain science and learning, physical wellness for musicians, string pedagogy (including the Suzuki approach), Baroque violin, and fiddle music and improvisation. ~I encourage my students to submit recordings between lessons at no additional cost to maintain their motivation and drive.
