Hello and welcome to Yuasa Piano Studio! My name is Aya and I offer private in-home piano lessons to individuals of all ages and skill levels in Queens and Brooklyn. To learn more about my services and to schedule a complimentary trial lesson, simply search for "Yuasa Piano Studio" online.
My philosophy is to teach music theory, technique, and ear training in a way that is fun and engaging, allowing my students to explore different styles while building upon their favorites. I select repertoire and exercises based on each student's unique needs and preferences, exposing them to a variety of genres such as classical, jazz, rock, pop, as well as soundtracks from movies and video games. Additionally, lessons can include composing original music, arranging, and music production.
I understand that every student is distinct, including their learning style, personality, and even the shape of their hand. That's why I tailor each lesson to bring out the best in them. Whether you prefer a more relaxed or rigorous approach, my primary goal is to ensure that learning the piano is always fulfilling and enjoyable.
For children, I offer 30, 45 or 60 minute weekly lessons that address ear training, music theory, sight-reading, rote learning, and keyboard fluency. They will also enjoy duets, sing-alongs, off-the-bench activities and games, with an optional end-of-year recital. My piano lessons are also available for adults. They last between 45-60 minutes and have flexible scheduling to accommodate busy lifestyles. Focus areas may include customized technical exercises, choice of repertoire, sight-reading, and lead sheets.
As someone who was born and raised in both Japan and the U.S. and has over 7 years of piano teaching experience and a B.A. from Berklee College of Music, I am a qualified and award-winning piano teacher. Additionally, I am a member of the Music Teacher's National Association.
If you're interested in learning the piano, reach out to me to schedule your free trial lesson. During the lesson, you'll experience my teaching style and have the opportunity to ask questions. Let me know what days and times work best for you, and I'll be thrilled to help you take the first step towards playing the piano.
