Voice Studio of Dr. Bree Nichols
My goal as a voice teacher for classical singing is to establish a relationship with my students based on trust and confidence in their technique and artistry. I aim to promote vocal excellence in an atmosphere of encouragement and inspiration. As a dedicated voice instructor and accomplished operatic soprano, I have performed on various stages worldwide, earning the prestigious Fulbright and Presser awards. My educational background includes a Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of North Texas and a Master of Music from the University of Georgia.
I have had the honor of teaching vocal masterclasses in the United States, as well as in the Czech Republic and Madagascar. During my tenure as a Teaching Fellow at the University of North Texas, I maintained a voice studio from 2018-2021 and also taught courses in voice and vocal diction at the University of Georgia and Appalachian State University. Presently, I teach individuals in the Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington Metroplex in Texas, as well as online.
Aside from my vocal qualifications, I have also studied linguistics with a specific emphasis on phonetics, expressing my passion for lyric diction by assisting my students on interpretive depth and greater expressivity through language. While Czech lyric diction is my specialty, I have also coached singers in Italian, German, French, Spanish, and English.
In addition to my vocal work, I'm also an established scholar and innovator in community opera. I founded Stafford Opera Troupe in 2016, establishing the Summer Opera Program, which provides free training and performance opportunities to young singers.
