With years of teaching experience, I have had the privilege to educate individuals from various cultural backgrounds, musical genres, ages, and levels of interest. My teaching background includes teaching violin and improvisation at a pre-college K-12 after school music program, conducting masterclasses and lessons at universities across the country, performing as part of the AIM program for the San Francisco Symphony’s Education Department, and instructing private students, chamber groups, and group classes at the prestigious Interlochen Arts Camp.
I graduated from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music with a Master of violin performance degree under the guidance of Bettina Mussumeli. Prior to that, I attended the University of South Carolina School of Music, where I earned my Bachelor's instructed by William Terwilliger.
My approach to teaching centers on fostering mental and physical awareness, highlighting students' strengths, and devising achievable plans for them to attain personal goals. A dynamic teaching style that incorporates hands-on exploration, observing and imitating experts, and improvisation is the most effective way of imparting musical concepts. Through improvisation, students are encouraged to synthesize the learnt music ideas and manipulate them in a unique and expressive way. Irrespective of one's skill level, interests, background, or age, I will tailor lessons that cater to their needs.
