Piano Lessons by Irwin

My teenage son, who is incredibly reserved and introverted, expressed a desire to learn how to play the piano. During our initial lesson with Irwin, he was able to coax my son out of his shell by encouraging him to sing and become more involved. Irwin's passion for teaching is evident, and he was able to connect with my child almost immediately. It goes without saying that my son is thrilled to continue working with him, and I'm grateful for the opportunity that Irwin has provided my child.

Irwin has been teaching my son, who is 10 years old, for several months now, and I'm impressed with the progress he's made in such a short time. As someone who has played classical piano for 35 years, I've also begun taking jazz lessons with Irwin and have found his instruction to be exceptional. I highly recommend his teaching services.

For a year and a half, I have been a student of the incredible piano teacher, Irwin Witebsky. He surpasses any other instructor I've tried in the past, having failed to make progress before leaving due to my military obligations. Since retiring and settling in San Antonio, I feel grateful to have encountered such an experienced and qualified instructor in Irwin. Despite my reluctance to begin with fundamentals, Irwin rightly advised me to do so. I'm impressed with what I've learned under his guidance, including reading notes and piano music symbols which I previously considered impossible. Irwin's teaching style is versatile, catering to students of every age and skill level, from toddlers to 90-year-olds. I'm especially fond of his use of the Schaum series of piano books and am proud to admit that I'll soon be graduating from 2nd grade! Irwin is more than a teacher; he's had an adventurous life and enjoys sharing it with his students, recounting stories such as performing at a piano bar for Hollywood stars. In summary, I highly recommend Irwin as a piano teacher as you'll be surprised by what you'll learn under his guidance.

Amid the pandemic, my daughter commenced her beginner piano lessons with Irwin at the age of 13. Initially, we sought face-to-face guidance from Irwin at his studio to aid my daughter in managing her posture and hand-placement. However, after approximately six weekly lessons, my daughter gained confidence in receiving lessons over the phone. He promptly calls at the agreed-upon time, and in the span of 30 minutes, he effectively teaches my daughter how each note should be played. It is remarkable to witness my daughter's progress. In slightly over a year, she has progressed to the John W. Schaum Book C piano book, reads sheet music proficiently and exhibits exceptional finger dexterity. To supplement her musical progression, we have printed beginner versions of her favourite songs for her to learn. The ability to read music has opened doors to a world of excitement and opportunity for her. Despite my daughter's musical development being beyond my comprehension, her beautiful performances attests to Irwin's exceptional teaching. He is truly amazing! 🤗

Working with beginners requires a considerable amount of patience, which is something this instructor has in abundance. Thanks to his patient and encouraging demeanor, my son has been able to progress in his piano studies with ease. Moreover, this instructor's knowledge of all aspects of the piano has been invaluable. Even in the short time my son has been studying with him, he has already learned to read sheet music, recognize basic piano keys, and confidently play simple songs from memory.
