Drum Lessons Chicago

I offer private drum lessons to individuals over 10 years old, catering to both beginners and those with experience. Whether it's developing new skills or honing existing ones, I will impart my knowledge of drumming to help you achieve your musical goals.

With 30 years of playing experience, which includes marching band, orchestra, and a classical percussion degree from Wheaton Conservatory of Music, I am an expert in my field. I am also an adept drum set player with 18 years of band experience, including touring and recording. I play in a power trio in Chicago, called Solemn Meant Walks, and play drums for the legendary British punk band, CONFLICT.

I have taught private lessons for 15 years, during which time I have honed my skills to help students build a strong foundation in drumming. I can teach the basics, such as reading, technique, rudiments, hand foot coordination, and independence on a drum kit, learning music by ear and transcribing. Additionally, I can help school band and orchestra students prepare for solos, auditions, competitions, and mallet instruments and timpani. I also help set up and tune drums for those who need it.

My studio is located at the Music Garage building in the West Loop in Chicago and is fully equipped with 2 full drum kits, snare drums, practice pads, and a PA. Due to high gas prices, I am not offering in-home lessons currently.

As my own boss, I have the flexibility to work my schedule around my musical groups and projects. Teaching has also helped me learn from my students. For my students, I love making a positive impact in their lives, bringing music into their world and enriching it. I didn't start playing drums until high school, and I appreciated the influence that had in shaping my life.
