Márcia’s cleaning service was contracted by me to perform a deep clean of our 1400 Sq foot home that consists of four bedrooms and one bathroom. Our initial appointment was cancelled due to snow, thus delaying the next available time by two weeks. This was beyond the control of Márcia’s cleaning service, as it was caused by the weather. On the day of the rescheduled appointment, the two-person crew arrived one hour earlier than scheduled. Although we asked them to wait for us to finish our breakfast and gather our belongings before leaving our home, they arrived on time and complied with our request. We briefed them on the specific areas of the house that required cleaning, which excluded the two bedrooms that functioned as home offices as well as our teenager’s bedroom. After approximately four hours, both women notified us via text that they had finished cleaning the house. However, when we returned, we discovered that the house was colder than expected although we had left the heating on. We found out that one of the living room windows had been left open and was not entirely cleaned, with the screen left partially down, which left the house exposed to potential external threats such as burglars and animals. Márcia’s cleaning service had failed to call or text us about the issue, though we had given them permission to do so should there be any problems. Upon inspecting further, we discovered that some windows had streaks with accumulated dust and grime on the window casings. Additionally, some areas such as the kitchen floor under the kitchen table had not been properly cleaned. Since we had sought Márcia’s cleaning service for a deep cleaning of our home, and because we had agreed to a price of nearly $400, we expected a more efficient and effective cleaning job. As a nurse, this was a significant financial investment for me. We had not cleaned the house thoroughly in months due to other commitments, which is why we needed professional help. Although some areas were cleaned exceptionally well, such as the refrigerator, stove, and oven, the counter tops, fronts of cabinets, table, and rugs, as well as the carpeting, some areas were not correctly cleaned. For instance, we found bits of stuff in some parts of the carpeting, and the kitchen floor underneath the table was not well cleaned. Despite my expectation of a thorough deep cleaning, some areas were overlooked such as the corner of the bathroom floor, which I can dust myself. I had to complete the cleaning that I had paid Márcia’s cleaning service for. The photo showing the bush outside was intended to demonstrate the stains and smudges that remained on the windows even after cleaning.
