Being a fervent teacher of violin and viola, I graduated with a masters degree in viola performance from the University of Minnesota. My focus on delivering high-quality lessons to students of all ages has driven me to constantly strive for excellence in my own playing. My diverse teaching experience with students from low-income households to those on the spectrum has helped me develop the ability to provide a nurturing environment for students of all ages and abilities. Despite being 28 years old, I had never picked up a violin before my initial session with Marissa. Despite my desire to learn how to play, I had heard that violin was an intricate and difficult instrument to grasp. Nonetheless, Marissa managed to make it accessible and approachable for someone like me who was starting late. In addition, Marissa is an exceptional instructor, assigning clear exercises to practice between lessons and providing attentive guidance on form for beginners who want to develop good habits. Marissa is not only an excellent educator but also a kind and patient human who enjoys sharing her passion for music with her students. Moreover, she offered valuable support and instruction via Skype, which was a fantastic experience. I absolutely recommend Marissa as a wonderful instructor for novices to the enchanting world of violin and music theory. Her teachings have provided me with essential skills to practice and established habits to follow.
