Being in the United States means being punctual and respectful of others' time. If there's a possibility you'll be running late, especially by an hour or more, the courteous thing to do is call to let the other party know. Traffic may pose an obstacle, but it's no excuse - let them know. After all, people have their own schedules to keep. Sadly, I missed out on the only day I had off.
