About
With 14 years of experience as a saxophonist and composer, I offer professional tutoring services, both virtually and in-person, from my studio located in Inwood, NYC. My top priority is to customize each lesson according to my student's interests, while also ensuring they grasp the fundamentals of the instrument. My ultimate goal is to provide my students with the tools necessary for them to self-teach. The gratitude I have for my own teachers who motivated me in my youth drives me to inspire others. There is nothing more rewarding than imparting knowledge and gaining insights from my students' diverse perspectives and endeavors.Profile isn't claimed yet

In fourth grade, my son Tom began playing the saxophone in the public school band program. However, I wanted him to continue practicing during the summer. Thankfully, Matt provided engaging and challenging practice sessions that Tom found even harder than band practice. To my surprise, Tom started practicing on his own without any prompting.
With Matt's guidance, Tom picked out music to work on and set achievable goals. Over Zoom, Tom had consistently productive lessons where he improved greatly. I could tell from the tone in his voice that Tom felt comfortable with Matt. I was amazed at how much Tom had improved after listening to their structured practice sessions.
Recently, a friend of Tom's from another school inquired if the Band teacher knew my son. The teacher replied that Tom is the best saxophone player in the fifth grade! I'm grateful to Matt for his assistance and I'm excited to work with him again in the future.

At 14 years old, I've had the pleasure of knowing Matt, an exceptional saxophonist and instructor. Being around him is always enjoyable and his ability to assist me in grasping the essence of music is outstanding. I appreciate the way he has taught me to slow down in order to fully comprehend what I am playing.

With his deep comprehension and clear guidance, Matthew demonstrated patience throughout our lesson. In that single session, I gained more knowledge than from all previous lessons. I eagerly anticipate future lessons with him as he possesses the natural ability to impart detailed instruction and broaden my capabilities. I am grateful to have found the instructor who can guide and nurture my talent. 🙏🎷

Having played the saxophone for 10 years, I can confidently say that I've never felt or sounded better since taking lessons with Matt. His lessons are tailored to my specific goals as a musician, with a focus on improving my improvisation skills. Matt has an incredible way of explaining even the most difficult concepts in a way that makes me feel like I've discovered them myself. We cover everything from fundamentals, sound, technique, and theory, and Matt provides enjoyable exercises that allow me to apply these concepts. Delving into topics like voice leading, chord progressions, and substitutions has provided me with a wealth of material to work on and has reignited my passion for the saxophone. I highly recommend Matt's lessons to players of all levels.
