About
As a credentialed high school math teacher with 14+ years of experience, a BA in Math from UC Berkeley, an MA in Teaching Math, and National Board Certification, I have a deep love for math and helping my students achieve their goals. Having taught internationally in South Korea, Taiwan, and France, as well as seven years at the prestigious College Preparatory School, ranked number one in California and fifth in the nation, I have gained an extensive understanding of the learning process. Before relocating to Phoenix to teach at Phoenix Country Day School, I served as chair of the math department at CPS for two years. Utilizing an iPad Pro and Zoom, I am able to tutor virtually and enhance my student's mathematical thinking by recording my sessions for future review. Robert has taught two of my children. The younger child's math education was disrupted by COVID, resulting in knowledge gaps. To address this, Robert guided her through Richard Rusczyk's Introduction to Algebra, a difficult text, the summer prior to her freshman year of high school. Even though she met with Robert four times a week, our daughter never complained, thanks to his patience and charm. Her math skills greatly improved. Our older child took advanced algebra with Robert during her sophomore year of high school. She audited a multivariable calculus course at UC Berkeley before starting college and credited Robert's teachings from three years ago for helping her keep up. She also believes that Robert's guidance was instrumental in her qualifying for Harvard's toughest math courses. Both children found Robert's teaching challenging yet engaging and appreciate his meticulousness, clarity, and patience. Overall, Robert is an outstanding teacher.
