You can find me on Instagram as @thesideofphotography. My name is Erica (she/her), and I am a published photographer and hybrid videographer hailing from Chicago, with a background in special education teaching. I proudly offer discounts to military personnel, teachers, and first responders. Photography became my passion while pursuing a degree in elementary education, where the skills I learned proved to be essential in interacting with clients. As a photographer, I am patient, understanding, and knowledgeable, making for a seamless experience all around.I have worked with notable clients, including the Las Vegas Water District, Varity Magazine, and even had the privilege of shooting a live event for Walt Disney. From individuals to corporations, I enjoy capturing the essence of people, brands, and events through my photography.
I have a photojournalistic approach to my shooting style, while being inspired by fine-art and fashion photography. I use creative lighting, leading lines, unique perspectives, angles, and compositions to bring out the beauty and personalities of my clients, while narrating their stories.
At the core of it, my clients' vision is most important, and I seize moments that bring their ideas to life. I love that photography has the power to freeze spontaneous moments of joy and love, which is incredibly rewarding.

Erica is an incredible photographer who exceeded all of our expectations. We were in Vegas from out of town and decided to fit in our engagement photos, scheduling the shoot for the day we arrived. Unfortunately, my fiancé was in a sour mood, making the experience somewhat challenging. Despite this, Erica was able to capture some truly special moments, highlighting my fiancé's rare smiles. Her finished product was exceptional.
To add to the positive experience, Erica's fun and approachable personality made the session lively, salvaging what could have been a dreary day.
Overall, Erica is a consummate professional with exceptional skills. I only wish she were based in DC to shoot our wedding photos.
