Kenji Lee - Saxophone Teacher

Greetings! I go by Kenji Lee, and I'm situated in Ypsilanti, MI where I work as a saxophonist, composer-improviser, and educator. I completed my studies at the University of Michigan with a BM in Music Education and BFA in Jazz Studies, specializing in Saxophone. Over the years, I've been an active jazz musician and educator, working as a freelancer in Los Angeles, Seattle, and SE Michigan.

For any aspiring musician, private lessons are critical for sharpening musicality and technique. I strongly believe that students acquire the deepest and most effective learning experience through engagement and creative challenges. To foster a positive and engaging learning environment, I'm dedicated to providing innovative, fun, and exciting ways of teaching, rather than relying on rote and repetition.

I'm excited to teach musicians of all ages and levels, and will guide you through the entire learning process. Together, we'll focus on goal/process oriented practices, while customizing lessons to cater to individualized musical needs.

My comprehensive lessons cover a vast range of topics including saxophone fundamentals, improvisation, rhythm, listening, theory, and history.
