As a general contractor, my interest was piqued by the idea of harnessing ground heat loss in our area, which typically sits at 57 degrees, and channeling it back into a controlled air environment. This was particularly relevant during the period in which this product was launched, as most furnaces were being installed in crawl spaces without homeowners realizing the extent of heat loss due to improper vapor barrier installation by contractors. Over time, 6 mill plastic vapor barriers became brittle and moved, allowing moisture to creep in and render insulation less effective, thereby costing homeowners more in heating and cooling costs. Our project, showcased in these before-and-after pictures, has been utilizing this product for over a decade with great results, and we are proud to be a Certified Green Builder and Energy Star Rated by RBC, Inc. Ultimately, the benefits of this product far outweigh the cost.
