About
Thank you for visiting my page! It brings me joy that you're interested in pursuing flute or piano lessons. Here's a brief background on my experience:I am a seasoned instructor with nearly five decades of teaching experience in both beginner and advanced levels. My alma maters include the University of Kansas, where I taught various courses, and a BM and MM in music composition and flute performance, respectively. In addition, I am affiliated with the Columbia Choirs of Metropolitan Seattle as an accompanist/assistant conductor, and I published a book, "Artistic Accompanying," which is available on Amazon.
My repertoire primarily revolves around classical pieces for piano and flute lessons. Piano students focus on classical style, ear training, sight-reading, and theory, while flute students work on creating a beautiful sound, technique, ear training, and sight-reading. I also prepare students for school solo/ensemble performances and auditions.
I incorporate materials from the Royal Conservatory of Music (Canada) for both piano and flute instruction, and I encourage students to join the graded assessments they offer. Please feel free to look up "The Royal Conservatory" online to learn more.
Currently, most of my lessons are online, but I'm open to some in-person classes, depending on the situation.

Vicki is an excellent instructor who offers reasonable rates and maintains open communication. My daughter had a wonderful time during her individual flute sessions with Vicki, and her playing abilities noticeably progressed every week. I strongly suggest Vicki as a top option for private lessons.

For numerous years, my daughter was under the tutelage of Vicki for both flute and piccolo lessons. As a result of her guidance and instruction, my daughter was able to thrive throughout middle and high school, wherein she achieved great success in various music competitions. Moreover, she was given the opportunity to participate in numerous school musicals as a member of the orchestra pit. Her exceptional abilities, which were honed by Vicki, earned her a prominent position as a leader in her high school marching band, and has prepared her for college. She is presently enrolled at the University of Washington, where she is a 3rd year member of the Husky Marching Band.

Despite her no-nonsense demeanor, Vicki exhibited impressive levels of patience, kindness, and supportiveness that made her an excellent fit for my seven-year-old grandson.

At the age of 50, I began taking flute lessons with Vicki who proved to be an outstandingly enthusiastic and patient instructor. Her amiable disposition made the learning process a delightful experience. It is an exceptional feat to come across an experienced teacher with such a zeal for their work. Thus, I wholeheartedly urge any new student, regardless of age, to consider seeking lessons from her. Kirk Hansen from Everett, WA.
