About
Greetings, my name is Denis, and I am a skilled instructor with a passion for teaching students of all ages and abilities. I hold a BM degree in guitar performance from San Jose State University and can offer lessons either from my personal studio or through travel arrangements. Training with notable masters such as Carlos Barbosa-Lima and Scott Tennant of the L.A. Guitar Quartet, I specialize in classical techniques but remain versatile and receptive to other styles as well.Regardless of your skill level, lessons will cover all the basics, including reading standard notation and tablature, learning correct posture, and mastering technical form for both hands. For intermediate and advanced students, I offer the opportunity to expand and refine existing skills.
In light of current circumstances, I am also offering online lessons to ensure the safety and well-being of all my students. As we navigate these challenging times, let us come together in the joy of music and embark on an exciting musical journey.

My two sons, who were aged 10 and 8 at the time, were taught guitar by Denis. According to them, Denis is the best guitar tutor they have ever had. His ability to connect with children and impart his musical knowledge is astounding. I highly recommend him.

So far, I have had three one-hour lessons with Denis. As a beginner who cannot read music, I tend to be slow, but Denis has been incredibly patient with me. He has been very innovative in his approach, teaching me how to read music and how to move my fingers on the strings. When I inquire about historic guitarists like Francisco Tarrega and Andre Segovia, he shows excellent knowledge, along with other artists I enjoy.
Denis is an exceptional teacher with extensive experience teaching all ages. I have even signed up my 21-year-old son with him to learn how to read music and play various classical, acoustic, and electric styles. I would highly recommend Denis to anyone interested in music, including friends and family, both adults and children. With guitar, you can take your music anywhere, making it the perfect instrument to learn! :-)
