About
As a professional musician first and foremost, I also teach part-time. Having spent many years working full-time in the music industry, touring and recording in studios, I possess a unique perspective that sets me apart from many other teachers. My experience is invaluable in helping me excel at what I do. I've been playing drums since the tender age of 9, and started giving drum lessons while still in high school. In the mid-80s, I established the teaching program at The Memphis Drum Shop, and have been teaching at Fork's Drum Closet in Nashville since 1996. I currently offer Zoom lessons to the majority of my students, but in-person lessons can also be arranged by appointment at my studio at Fork's.I consider myself incredibly fortunate to make a living doing what I love, and it brings me great pleasure to share my knowledge with others. Over the years, I've had countless students who have gone on to accomplish great things in the music industry. A few examples include Cody Dickinson of the North Mississippi Allstars, George Sluppick of The Chris Robinson Brotherhood, Marshall Richardson of Jo Dee Messina, Billy Thomas of Vince Gill, Jamin Orrall of Be Your Own Pet/Jeff the Brotherhood, and Steve Gorman of Black Crowes.

After a gap of more than 40 years, I resumed my drum lessons under the tutelage of Steve. Despite purchasing a new drum set, I struggled to recall even the basics. However, Steve's exceptional skills as a drummer and his impeccable teaching abilities have helped me immensely. We highly recommend Steve Ebe for both adults and parents seeking quality drum instruction. Our son has been studying with him for three years and has made substantial progress in his ability to analyze music, read sheet music, and develop proper techniques for hands and feet - areas that are often overlooked by other instructors. Despite having specific learning disabilities, Steve has been attentive to our son's needs while still holding him to high expectations. Since beginning lessons, our son's grades have improved and he has learned the importance of punctuality and preparation. As a professional drummer, I have studied with top-level teachers in Chicago, North Texas State, and Los Angeles, and I can confidently say that Steve's delivery of curriculum is equal to or greater than what I have experienced before.

The drums instructor, Steve, is a phenomenal teacher who uses a practical and fundamental technique in teaching. I was his student for approximately a year, and now my son is under his tutelage. I strongly suggest Steve for any aspiring percussionist.
