As we prepared to open a new practice in Hayden, ID, we contacted Dan from Reno, Nevada. The initial contact went well, and I informed him that our facilities director would be available to meet him for the project on March 1st at 9:00 am. Our arrangements with Dan were confirmed in writing, and it was crucial that everything proceeded smoothly since we were out of state, and I would not be available due to travel. My boss was designated as the point of contact if any issues arose. Here is the review shared by my boss and the facilities director: My boss reported that Dan was expected to begin work at 9 AM on March 1st, but he did not arrive at the scheduled time. When I contacted him at 11, he claimed that his daughter was hospitalized and that he would show up the following day at 11 without informing anyone. According to the facilities director, Dan was tardy from the outset, but he appeared to know what he was doing when he arrived. After several hours on the job, Dan determined that he required another type of hanger, so he departed for three hours to buy one. When questioned about his whereabouts, he merely responded, "Parts were cheaper in Reno." Dan abandoned the project two days later, leaving one picture unhung. Additionally, it came to light that the walls beneath each painting were marred, necessitating repairs by the painter. One picture was hung inadequately and needed to be rehung by the contractor. The job needed two days to complete, but the work was subpar for something so simple. Dan is a pleasant person, and I regret that things did not work out as planned.
