About
My passion is mentoring individuals of all ages in learning to play string instruments and piano, including children and adults alike. I began my journey at the young age of three when I picked up the violin, followed by piano at four, cello at ten, and viola as an adult. With over 36 years of teaching experience and Suzuki Association of the Americas certification, I have honed my skills to become an exceptional music educator. Apart from teaching, I am an active performer in the Central Michigan area. As concertmaster and frequent soloist with the Midland Community Orchestra and a member of the Midland Symphony Orchestra, I am always in the spotlight, bringing my music to audiences far and wide. Additionally, I am a pit musician for shows at Midland Center for the Arts and organize soloist concerts at Creative 360 and other local venues. I also provide custom ensembles and music for weddings, parties, and other events, and you can find videos of my recent performances on my Facebook page (search for Susan Mercy Violinist).

During these challenging times, I am offering a special service to those affected by the current COVID-19 pandemic. If you are planning a small wedding ceremony and would like to include live music, I can work with you to provide socially distanced music at your venue or perform live music via Zoom for your online guests to enjoy before and during the ceremony.

Susan Mercy deserves an abundance of compliments! She took charge of organizing the music for my son's wedding and cocktail hour in October 2019, using the talents of a cello, violin, and keyboard. Susan was able to grant the bride's wish of incorporating specific songs, skillfully weaving together a playlist that set the perfect tone for both the wedding and cocktail hour. Additionally, Susan was extremely responsive throughout the planning stage, readily answering any inquiries and providing excellent recommendations. Numerous wedding guests went out of their way to reach out to me and express how astonishing the music was, contributing to a serene and romantic atmosphere. Based on this success, I am eagerly anticipating having Susan Mercy perform at future events because the music was unequivocally remarkable.

My wife's needs were accommodated with flexibility, and responses were received in a timely manner. Being a novice at playing the violin and having suffered a stroke 7 years ago, this activity holds promise as a enjoyable form of therapy. Anticipation for her first song is high.

From the Midland Symphony Orchestra comes Susan Mercy and her partner Jim, both highly skilled and experienced musicians. Susan lent her expertise to help me curate an ideal playlist for my ceremony, and the feedback from my guests was unanimous - the music was simply stunning! The musical prowess of Susan and Jim elevated my wedding ceremony, with their tremendous talent and years of experience shining through. My song selection was quite diverse, yet Susan was able to locate and perform each one flawlessly. If you're looking for a musical experience that will leave you thrilled, look no further than Susan on the violin and Jim on the keyboard.
