With 23 years of experience, I have become skilled at identifying and building on each student’s strengths to improve their grades and test scores. I hold a Master's of Arts in Teaching - English Literature, B.A. in Philosophy and English Literature, and a TEFL certification. Additionally, I continue to take college courses in History, English Literature, and Philosophy to stay current. I have successfully tutored multiple academic subjects, including the SAT, ACT, SSAT, GED, and ASVAB tests. My students' SAT scores increase by 200 points on average, and ACT scores increase by 4 composite points. Students see at least a one-grade improvement in English, History, Mathematics, and Natural Science. I work with high school, college, and university students. My brother's learning disability has given me insight into the challenges that students with special needs face, and I possess the patience required to accommodate their learning styles.

Working one-on-one with a student creates a special bond based on mutual trust. The student is unable to hide behind others, making it clear if they face any confusion. I strive to build character in my pupils by encouraging them to admit when they do not understand something. My approach is always positive, and I provide instruction as a guide, not an authoritarian figure. I never ask the student to do anything that I am not willing to do with them, and I respect them by avoiding condescension. Mistakes are a part of the learning process, and it is not a teacher's perfection that inspires students, but their authenticity and genuine care for their success. As a teacher, I aim not only to impart knowledge but also to model the joy of learning.
