Julie Lee Piano— New York

As a professionally trained pianist, I hold both a bachelor's and master's degree from Juilliard School, and am presently pursuing my Doctoral of Musical Arts at the Manhattan School of Music. Making my debut at Carnegie Hall in 2022 was a highlight of my career thus far. I’ve had the good fortune of working closely with distinguished pianists of the highest caliber such as Robert McDonald, Horacio Gutierrez, and Haesun Paik, who have not only influenced my artistry but have also provided me with insight on how to be an effective teacher.

Previously, I served as a piano faculty member at Bronx Conservatory of Music, Lindeblad School of Music, and Arete Music Academy, as well as taught students privately. My students have varied in age and experience, and I've taught those starting with their very first lesson to those on the path to becoming professional concert pianists at Juilliard's pre-college program.

My extensive exposure to music schools and training has allowed me to learn what teaching methods work best for different students, as well as how to personalize my approach to meet each individual's unique needs. I strongly believe that an effective teacher is one who lays a solid foundation and then empowers their students to continue self-teaching. It may be a lengthy process, but my aim is to equip my students with the skills to become independent musicians who can interpret music beautifully, rather than just being able to play a few pieces.

Learning and playing music should be fun, and I try to instill that joy in all my students. I believe it is my responsibility to not just teach my students how to play, but also how to love playing. I strive to help them develop a strong connection to music, a connection that can enrich their lives for years to come.
