Our goal at The Open Space Martial Arts is to equip you with the skills necessary to confidently navigate through life. We value your safety, health, well-being, and aspirations and believe they deserve your best efforts.
Our training in martial arts enhances your physical fitness, grace, strength, discipline, focus, community, and self-defense abilities. It goes beyond mere kicks and punches and centers around personal development, moral values, a strong work ethic, and self-assurance. Our martial arts community comprises individuals who support and encourage each other to succeed and believe that we can all get better together. It fosters a healthy, resilient self-image and allows you to live your best life.
We take pride in training our students to handle any situation that may threaten their safety or that of their loved ones. We teach not only physical combat skills such as kicking, punching, grappling, throws, and joint locks but also verbal de-escalation, positive decision-making, threat assessment, and TaeKwon-Do's Student Oath and Tenets' ethical values.
Our Master Instructor has been involved in martial arts training for more than a quarter-century, having honed his skills through the nationally recognized Kick Drugs Out of Alliance program. He is a certified black-belt holder in Traditional TaeKwon-Do, authorized by the United States Kido Federation (USKF), and has trained extensively in Yang-family T'ai Chi Ch'uan, Hapkido, and tactical self-defense. He is a two-time inductee in the USKF Black Belt Hall of Fame (2013 and 2018), has participated in the Disney Open Tournament circuit, held state and national rankings in the Professional Karate Commission, and led The Open Space Martial Arts to successive Small School of the Year awards (2019 and 2020) from the USKF.
