Contrary to expectations, he did not mention anything about charging for his estimate. However, he spent no more than 10 minutes examining my fairly uncomplicated project and asked for $150 for the estimate. He even inquired about my preferred payment method. Surprisingly, there was no indication on his firm's profile that they would ask for any fee in exchange for an estimate.
