With a bachelor's degree in violin performance and a master's in Kodaly pedagogy (music education), I've been instructing for over a decade in various capacities, including private lessons, university musicianship tutoring, choir, and string orchestra. I have in-depth experience working with dyslexic students from elementary school through college and have facilitated music education for individuals with diverse needs.
My approach is highly personalized, where lessons are tailored to the students' interests and aptitudes while being stimulating and appropriately challenging. As an educator, I take immense pleasure in aiding my students in accomplishing their musical objectives, imparting them with the necessary tools and abilities to play any genre of their choice independently. Witnessing students' eyes light up with an understanding of a particular concept and rejoicing in their achievements is my greatest satisfaction.
At present, I operate from a central location on Mercer Island and also teach remotely through FaceTime, Skype, and Zoom. Additionally, high school students and adults can take violin lessons for college credit through Bellevue College.

The time we have spent learning at Studio Savage has been absolutely amazing. When my daughter expressed an interest in taking violin lessons, we couldn't have found a more perfect fit. Theresa, our instructor, is incredibly patient and has a great way of explaining to my daughter what she should practice each week. The classes are not only informative & useful but enjoyable too - there are even some games and exercises which later turn into violin songs after few weeks. With these lessons, my daughter is quickly picking up the notes and becoming proficient in reading sheet music as she plays.
Most importantly, my daughter still has a strong enthusiasm for playing the violin. I am contented with the progress she's making, and the best part is that we both absolutely adore Theresa, our teacher.
