For nearly three years, I have been studying violin under the guidance of Mariko. A phenomenal instructor, Mariko possesses remarkable patience and has successfully equipped me with fundamental skills such as how to stand and position my arms, and the proper handling of the violin. Her rates are reasonable given the progress one can achieve in just one session, especially in NYC. Despite the potential intimidation factor associated with teachers, I have never sensed that with Mariko. She radiates warmth and friendliness, greeting me with a smile at every start of the lesson and motivating me to keep practicing. Even if I must repeat a piece over ten times, her unwavering patience perseveres, and she attends to every note with her guidance. I wholeheartedly endorse Mariko as a violin instructor.

For about half a year now, Mariko has been teaching my daughter, who is eight years old, and we are quite pleased with the results. Makiko is an amiable and patient instructor who particularly excels at teaching children. Thanks to her, playing the violin has become an enjoyable activity for my daughter.

Mariko and her companion, Sophia, had the pleasure of playing at our wedding ceremony and cocktail hour in April last year. Our initial communication was via email, during which Mariko provided samples of her playing the classical pieces that we had selected for our wedding. Despite having a list of several pieces for our procession, Mariko took on the challenge with enthusiasm and made excellent suggestions for smooth transitions. She displayed the same level of professionalism in person as she did through her correspondence, making our coordination with her an absolute pleasure. Their performance was a delight and set the mood for our wedding day. Both musicians arrived early and their playing added to the natural beauty of the venue. It made the occasion even more romantic for us and was just the right touch to our special day. Moreover, we were delighted that they were able to play a mix of jazz and pop during our cocktail hour. It provided the perfect balance to the louder partying that took place later that night. We would highly recommend Mariko to anyone looking for a talented and friendly violin player. Her companion, Sophia, is equally as talented and lovely as a violist.

For more than a year, Mariko has been instructing my 8-year-old child in piano lessons and we are extremely pleased with her services! Before starting, my child had limited knowledge of music theory and playing the instrument, but under Mariko's guidance, he has made remarkable progress.
