As a Piano teacher, I specialize in teaching Musicianship, which includes Sight Singing and Sight Reading abilities. I have a preference for emphasizing the reading of sheet music and have developed a fun and simple technique for breaking down educational goals into more manageable parts. For example, when teaching Sight Reading, I focus on helping students understand all the bits of information found on a sheet of music, including Signatures, Key & Time, Tempo, Rhythm & Road Map, Accidentals, Dynamics, Phrasing, Key Changes, and any other details they might have missed.
The most satisfying aspect of my job is when a student "gets it" and is able to apply the knowledge they've learned to their own work. Generally, students come to me seeking a challenge and a chance to grow, and then they have the opportunity to showcase what they've learned in their school band or orchestra.

Scott demonstrated promptness, preparation, patience, and extensive expertise. He was able to instill a newfound appreciation in my child towards the instrument, as well as how to take care of it and utilize its full potential, all in a positive manner. While a scheduling conflict led us to mutually conclude our work together in 2018, Scott displayed utmost professionalism and continued to impart a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm to my child, who has special needs. I commend Scott for his unique approach and flexibility in adapting the curriculum to meet the individual's level. In fact, he even went above and beyond by composing a duet to showcase my child's progress.
