Grant Gilman didn't just teach me how to play the viola; he instilled in me empathy for my peers who struggled with the instrument, while I excelled. Previously, I belittled them with name-calling and criticisms, but thanks to him, I transformed from an angry, volatile child into a skilled and professional viola player.
