Hello there, my name is Sean Ronan and I am a seasoned music teacher with over 15 years of professional experience under my belt. I have a diverse background in music having toured the country playing rock, blues, country, and jazz genres. I completed my Bachelor's degree in jazz performance from William Paterson University and have had the privilege of recording with several talented musicians. My students vary from beginners to advanced players and I currently perform with a few groups in the NYC area.
At this time, I am only offering remote lessons. I work with guitar players at all skill levels, from beginners to professionals alike. Whether you're preparing for an audition or just starting out in music, I'm here to help make your journey stress-free and productive. I teach a wide range of styles, including rock, blues, jazz, funk, country, classical, soul, and R&B.
In my lessons, I prioritize learning through songs over generic exercises. That's not to say technical exercises aren't important in improving technique, but learning a difficult chord progression or lick is more beneficial in the long run. My students will develop the following techniques through consistent practicing:
- Picking, strumming, finger-style playing - Improvisation - Crafting an engaging guitar solo - Learning songs to establish a strong foundation - Music theory

Sean is an outstanding guitar instructor, particularly for beginners! Despite having no prior experience with the guitar, Sean has been starting from the basics and consistently clarifying concepts while answering my queries with patience.
Despite being at a distance, Sean's adept sense of hearing permits him to promptly identify inaccurately played chords or notes. He regularly corrects and provides feedback, a trait I find highly valuable throughout my learning journey.
Although I still have a ways to go, each session I have with Sean instills a feeling of progression being made towards my goal.
