Excellence, integrity, and passion are the hallmarks of my service, whether it be providing music lessons, solo piano and piano/vocal performances, audio and video recording editing, arranging, school and church accompaniment, consultation, or rehearsal leading. My approach to teaching and everything I do is grounded in positive motivation. Rather than forcing my students to practice, I work to create an environment that motivates them to want to improve.

With over 20 years of experience as a music teacher, recording artist, and working musician, I am equipped to provide quality voice, piano, and composition lessons in a variety of genres. My classical training at the Cincinnati Conservatory and experience in rock, pop, jazz, and gospel groups have allowed me to help students excel in whatever style of music they prefer. I am also skilled at getting novice players and singers up and running quickly, helping them to read music and perform after just a few lessons.

Although teaching is my primary focus, my work as a recording artist and working musician in other areas helps to keep me relevant, up-to-date, and practical in my teachings. This mutually beneficial relationship allows me to remain grounded in fundamentals and proper technique for my other activities.

Originally from Ohio, I have been performing professionally since my early 20s. After studying composition, theory, and classical piano at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, I began my career in music by playing keyboard and singing with one of Ohio's top pop and show bands. Later, I relocated to Nashville and worked as a writer with a premier Christian music publisher.

Throughout the 1980s and early '90s, I traveled nationwide as a respected contemporary Christian music artist, worship leader, and worship seminar instructor, producing and arranging music for other recording artists. Later, I became involved as a worship pastor and music instructor at several churches and schools. I continued to develop my career in education, serving as a private voice and piano instructor and college admissions advisor. In addition to my earlier studies at the music conservatory, I hold a master's degree in education.

I have had success with several recordings of original music and arrangements, receiving thousands of plays and downloads throughout the world via major internet streaming and download sites. I find great joy and fulfillment in helping my students progress and assisting clients in reaching their goals. Witnessing noticeable improvement in the way my students perform after even just a few lessons is always encouraging, and hearing how my unique combination of skills and expertise has helped my clients reach their own goals is deeply satisfying.
