For close to a decade, Mr. Manaster has been instructing me on the violin, ever since I began my musical journey on this gorgeous instrument. As both a masterful violinist and an excellent mentor, I have gained abundant knowledge from him regarding music and the craft of playing this beloved stringed instrument. Each lesson is both pleasurable and fulfilling; Mr. Manaster never fails to conduct himself with professionalism and promptness. Gabriel T.

Throughout my six years as Paul's student, from the 6th grade until I left Irvine to attend college, he consistently demonstrated remarkable patience, kindness, and helpfulness as a teacher. Typically, our lessons began with me playing a scale while Paul offered guidance on correcting any technique issues (such as intonation or bowing). Afterwards, I would play the piece I had been working on throughout the week, receiving feedback from Paul on areas that needed improvement. He had a way of pointing out my mistakes and weak spots in a gentle manner that helped me to progress without feeling discouraged. Additionally, Paul always answered any questions I had and provided assistance for upcoming auditions. One time, I was in a frenzy because I had forgotten about an audition, but Paul was able to assist me in selecting and learning a suitable piece that was both easy enough to prepare in a short amount of time and impressive enough for the audition. Furthermore, Paul is an incredibly talented musician in his own right. During my last lesson with him, he was the co-concertmaster of the Pacific Symphony and played in the pit orchestra for the Pageant of the Masters every summer. Being able to observe his technique in lessons and regularly exposed to his first-rate playing significantly helped me to improve as a musician. Overall, I wholeheartedly enjoyed every lesson I had with Paul and believe that he played a huge role in enhancing my skill as a violinist. My parents and I have previously recommended Paul to various family friends and I would do so again without any hesitation.

Paul is an exceptional tutor, well-versed in both playing and instructing the violin. He currently teaches various age ranges, including my eleven-year-old daughter, who has benefited greatly from his guidance. Paul has a keen understanding of my daughter's areas of improvement and delivers feedback in a gentle manner. With smooth communication and teaching, both in-person and during the pandemic, my daughter's progress has been visible under Paul's tutelage. I feel grateful to have Paul as my daughter's violin teacher.
