With over a decade of experience in music education and professional composition and performance, I am currently based in Chicago, IL. My primary instruments are the marimba, drum set, and guitar, but I am open to providing improvisation and composition lessons for any preferred instrument. It is my firm belief that all living creatures have been gifted with innate musical abilities, and my aim is to help students unlock these talents. Through improving their listening skills and gaining greater body awareness, I encourage musicians to become more fluent in their craft, resulting in greater expressiveness. My approach has allowed me to diversify my musical performances and styles, culminating in original compositions and improvisation. As a member of various bands and musicians, such as Jazz Robots, Berta Bigtoe, Family Junket, and Seres de Luz, I am honored to combine my diverse experiences into my music. I possess a degree in music from Macalester College and participated in a Fulbright Scholarship program that allowed me to study in Brazil. With ten years of teaching experience, I am eager to meet and assist new students in achieving their musical aspirations!

Jonah has the ability to adjust his teaching techniques according to the complexity of a song, whether to slow down or speed up.
