Upon reaching 70 years of age, I felt a strong urge for a transformation. My body dissatisfaction had been consuming my thoughts far too often. I avoided mirrors, wore unflattering clothing, gave up swimming, and refused to wear summer attire. As a lifelong yo-yo dieter, I had tried various weight loss methods - some were successful while others were a complete failure, leading to frequent bouts of depression. These emotions often drove me towards the M&M shelves at CVS, gravitating towards large bags instead of single servings.
Therefore, I concluded that I needed a personal coach. I found that most write-ups disregarded individuals over 60. However, I was almost 70, and I came across Theresa at Mind Your Body Holistic Coaching. After completing her questionnaire, which proved to be enlightening for both Theresa and me, we scheduled a free session to see if we were compatible.
During our first meeting, I discovered that I truly enjoyed Theresa's company. After a few more coaching sessions, I realized why I had chosen her to be my coach. She was empathetic, kind, compassionate, and non-judgmental, choosing her words wisely and had amassed a wealth of knowledge and experience in this area. Additionally, her responsiveness and organizational skills were impressive. Theresa prioritized holistic health over diet and weight loss, focusing on mental, physical, and nutritional well-being.
In our weekly Zoom sessions, I learned more about myself, became transparent, and confided in both Theresa and myself. The readings, goals, weekly guides, ability to discuss the previous week's highlights and lowlights, and other aspects of our meetings became a significant part of my life. I took her advice seriously and found her suggestions to be fascinating and compelling, eagerly working to accomplish them by the next session. The Coach Connect app was also very user-friendly, sending reminders, allowing me to fill in my daily information, and providing weekly guidelines.
My primary goal was weight loss, and to achieve it, I joined her Three-Month Transform Your Body course, which I admit was pricey. However, this motivated me to take the program seriously, and I believe that I received my money's worth. Theresa was an excellent coach, motivating and inspiring me, helping me see the positives in each week, and offering new solutions to every problem I faced. The one-on-one coaching experience was invaluable.
Thanks to Theresa's coaching, her wise, gentle, and inspiring spirit, and her willingness to share her experiential knowledge, I implemented a daily exercise regimen, began eating enjoyable yet nutritiously healthy meals, meditated, improved my sleep habits, and reduced stress - all of which contributed to a level of success I never believed possible. I lost 18 pounds, from 174 to 156 pounds, which was something I hadn't accomplished in several decades. I now run/walk for 30 minutes every day, finding it enjoyable and helping to reshape my body. I learned to prepare delicious yet simple and healthy meals, be content with a moderate amount of wine, and recognize the importance of the mind-body connection. Additionally, the nutritional advice I received transformed my perception of food, the circumstances under which I consumed it, and how I chose to eat it.
