As an experienced musician and teacher with a degree from the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music, I am thrilled to offer lessons in saxophone, clarinet, and flute. With 15 years of teaching and performance experience in New York, I welcome students of all ages and skill levels – from beginners selecting their first instrument, to advanced players refining their improvisational skills.
In addition to my extensive teaching experience, I have been fortunate to work with a diverse range of artists across various music genres, including jazz, pop, rock, hip-hop, and Latin music. My professional credits include a televised performance on LIVE With Kelly And Ryan, as well as live shows at esteemed New York City venues like Terminal 5, Pier 17, Webster Hall, the Rose Hall at Lincoln Center, and Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola. I have also recorded with numerous bands and artists.
My lessons are catered to each individual student’s interests and goals, and I strive to make the learning experience fun and engaging. Past students have sought unique repertoire, such as transcribing video game theme songs for the flute, crafting a sax solo from a Whitney Houston song to perform at a wedding, or exploring classical clarinet duets. If you're looking for a teacher who is both responsive and professional, Michael is the one for you! I was particularly impressed by the fact that all lesson materials were available through Google Docs/Slides. I felt at ease throughout and after our sessions, without any sense of judgment. For almost a year now, Michael has been instructing my 10-year-old son.
