Description:

I've been an educator for 23 years, as well as a percussionist, having performed with renowned bands like Ruby Dee & The Snakehandlers, The Boss Jaguars, Hog Branch Groove Band, and The Pearl Snaps. I've also contributed to various sessions, including Styx and Todd Sucherman, as a skilled percussionist. For the last decade, I've owned and operated Cascade Studios Austin, a multifaceted studio catering to rehearsal, teaching, and recording.

My passion for teaching drives me to believe that every individual learns differently. As such, my one-on-one lessons are tailored to suit each student's unique learning style. My objective is to provide a fun and enjoyable learning experience, building my students' musical abilities to last a lifetime. Witnessing the "aha" moment when a student of any age or proficiency level realizes their potential is what keeps me motivated.

For the past month, my 11-year-old son has been receiving drum lessons from Michael, who is an incredible instructor. For the past month, I have been attending drum classes with Michael. His flexibility with scheduling and ability to make learning entertaining are certainly noteworthy. In addition to the textbook material, he provides supplementary notes that are more enjoyable to practice. Michael is approachable and welcomes inquiries. I am eagerly anticipating our future sessions and plan on revisiting this review to provide an update. Please note that due to COVID, both Michael and I wear masks throughout the entirety of each class.
