As the owner of a historic house, I have been working on its restoration whenever I can find the time. The original oak front door had started to deteriorate, with its joints splitting and causing issues with opening and locking. Rather than replacing it with a modern, unappealing door, I decided to restore it. A friend suggested I hire McCoy Craftsman, who stripped, rebuilt, and refinished the door using the identical stain shade. I have no doubts that I won't have to do any more work on the door for at least a century. The locks and knobs have a satisfying, old-timey 'ka-chunk' sound, and McCoy also assisted me in selecting period-correct knobs and locking mechanisms. My satisfaction with their work inspired me to hire McCoy to design and build a storm door that complemented the house's style, replacing the unattractive aluminum one that had been there. They knew precisely what design would match the house's period, and the door they constructed was elegant.
