About Ms. Jenna For six years, I taught first-grade in a public school in the Chelsea area of New York City. Thereafter, I became a reading specialist (grades K-4) in a top-rated school district located in Westchester, NY. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Childhood and Special Education (grades 1-6) from SUNY Geneseo and a Master’s degree in Literacy (birth-6th grade) from Columbia University's Teachers College. I am trained in Orton-Gillingham, which is an exclusive, explicit, multisensory approach to teaching reading through phonics-based instruction. I am currently working on getting certified as a CALT (Certified Academic Language Therapist) specializing in providing dyslexia therapy. During my career, I had the opportunity to teach children of varying abilities across all levels of elementary school.

Our initial encounter with Ms. Collisson was as our son's first-grade teacher in a Manhattan public school located in District 2.
