As a certified PTR and GreatBase Tennis Professional, I have over 8 years of experience teaching tennis and a lifelong passion for the sport. I am versatile and able to teach all ages and skill levels, with a focus on ensuring my players learn and enjoy the sport. I have successfully coached juniors in the USTA Junior Team Tennis program for 4 years, with many going on to play in regional and state competitions. I have also assisted teenagers in joining their high school's Junior Varsity and Varsity teams.
Throughout my career, I have helped to develop many highly ranked junior, college, university (Division 1), professional, and nationally ranked adult players, and there are others who are currently in the developmental stages. My teaching style is modern and simple to adapt, beginning with explaining techniques and demonstrating how to properly apply them in drills, rallies, and match play. Once fundamentals are mastered, we move on to strategies and mental toughness in match play. Progress requires a combination of regular proper instruction, practice, and match play.
I am involved in USTA leagues as a Coach/Captain and can help get you involved if interested. I also offer hitting partner services, providing specific patterns and strategies or simply a great workout. Additionally, I offer racquet stringing services, as well as recommendations on which racquet to buy based on your level and style of play. I am open to new and returning players, and each lesson includes court booking and video recording to keep track of your progress.

Earlier this year, I had the pleasure of meeting Coach Sammy through the Berkeley National Tennis Junior program, which is run by Cheri King. He was one of the coaches for my daughter's after school program, and I immediately observed that he had a great ability to engage and motivate children. Over time, the kids' strokes improved tremendously under his guidance.
Coach Sammy also helped to organize a USTA team for women who played at or near San Pablo Park. He coached us every week and supported us during all our USTA matches against more experienced teams. His gentle instruction and encouragement helped to build our confidence, and we have watched our team grow steadily as others observe the effective tennis sessions that he leads.
We were so impressed with his dedication to the sport that we arranged for my 8-year-old daughter to receive once-weekly private lessons from him. He has a systematic approach to instruction, taking videos of her lessons for our family to review together. He also helps us develop plans for improvement, and we use junior circuit tournaments as a tool to gauge next steps. Our family is grateful for and adores Coach Sammy!
