For 18 years, I have been a woodwind teacher specializing in saxophone and clarinet. With 40 years of music experience as an artist, I have taught a diverse range of musical styles, including classical, jazz, blues, swing, pop, rock, world, folk, movie, Broadway, Latin, and improvisation. Through my unique teaching approach, I have helped hundreds of students achieve excellence in all aspects of music. I prioritize making music an exciting and enjoyable experience for my students. As a result, they have become exceptional musicians and have gone on to succeed in their schools and beyond, with many earning scholarships to major universities and attending prestigious institutions like OCSA. My method centers around artistic performance, using my extensive music library that includes hundreds of songs and accompaniments. I have a deep love and respect for my students, and they know it. I believe in them, and they respond with enthusiasm and have fun while learning.

For nearly a year, I received personal saxophone instruction from Richard, focusing on adult learners. With his support, I went from having minimal knowledge to playing advanced tunes such as Desafinado, Take Five, and Peter Gunn Theme with remarkable tonal quality. Richard possesses an exceptional teaching approach that propels students toward success in a brief period. Unfortunately, my relocation to San Francisco precludes me from continuing my lessons with him. I enthusiastically endorse him to anyone seeking one-on-one instruction.

Although I had zero knowledge about music, Mr. Bond's passion for it was contagious. Despite never having handled a saxophone before, he made me feel confident and capable. Despite my initial reservations - I am pushing 60, after all - he patiently allowed me to make sounds by guiding me through the ABCDEF and showing me how to finger the sax. He was so kind and generous with his time, never once worrying about going over the allotted session, and all for a reasonable fee. I thoroughly enjoyed my first day with him and am grateful for his expertise and encouragement. Thank you!

As an adult saxophonist, I have been receiving private lessons from Richard Bond for three months. I have had an exceptionally fulfilling experience with Richard, as my ability to perform complicated musical pieces and rhythms on saxophone has substantially improved. Additionally, my technique and tone have progressed in a short amount of time. I look forward to my weekly lessons with Richard, knowing that I can expect to learn something novel and stimulating. I highly recommend Richard Bond for anyone, regardless of age, who wishes to learn an instrument from an experienced, reliable, patient, and motivational instructor.

Richard is an outstanding instructor who is patient and enjoyable to learn from. His enthusiasm for music is highly infectious, and I feel fortunate to have discovered him. Initially, I was anxious when I had to perform the flute in front of somebody since I hadn't practiced in a long time. However, he alleviated my concerns right away and has reignited my love for playing. I would give Richard five stars and highly suggest anyone who wishes to take music lessons to provide him with an opportunity!!

Richard's incredible talent for teaching leaves me speechless. He is fueled by a genuine love for the craft and a deep care for his students, reveling in their growth and progress. I was a complete novice when I began working with him, initially unable to even create a sound on my flute. I despaired that I was too old to learn, but Richard's unwavering support and guidance kept my spirits high. Within just a few lessons, I'd progressed from blowing into the headjoint to playing two beautiful songs - not a single "Mary Had a Little Lamb" in sight. I'm stunned by how much I've improved in such a short time, and Richard's generosity in lending me his own flute while I saved up to buy my own was incredibly kind. He never looks at the clock, happily letting lessons run over hours without worrying about time.
