Since 2010, I have been teaching people how to sew professionally. I have worked with hundreds of individuals, from first graders to retirees, in the DC area, helping them discover a new skill, express their creativity, and cultivate their love for sewing.
I strongly believe that creating and making things by hand can be an incredibly rewarding experience. As a designer and maker, sharing my sewing knowledge with others is a fulfilling aspect of my job.
I offer personalized, virtual sewing lessons via Zoom that are tailored to your specific needs and goals. Regardless of whether you are a complete beginner or an experienced sewer just needing some guidance on a particular project, I can work with you.
Whether you are interested in solely hemming your clothing or pursuing a career in fashion design, I am excited to work with you!

If you require assistance in making something and do not wish to sew it yourself, I suggest searching for a seamstress in your local area. To enhance my 15-year-old daughter's sewing skills, I got in touch with Valerie. During my daughter's Spring Break, Valerie and my daughter arranged suitable timing and agreed on a project. I procured a few supplies and left the two to attend a 2-hour virtual sewing session. To my surprise, upon my return, my daughter had successfully created a drawstring purse! Valerie was an excellent instructor and communicated directions and steps precisely. They began with the fundamentals of threading the machine and graduated to machine sewing.
