Previously, I had collaborated with an organizer who I ultimately became frustrated with due to their disposal of an old phone during a session with my husband. Despite this incident, I do generally appreciate my former organizer. In fact, I was initially pleased to discover this company as I hoped to attain my organizational objectives and leave my past experiences behind. My need for organizational assistance stems from various stressors that I currently face, particularly in regard to my closet. While the organizer did tackle many tasks within the closet, unfortunately, there is a lack of organization and logic. Shirts are mixed with coats, pants are mixed with shirts, and so on - items that belong together are not grouped together. For instance, when I go to retrieve a t-shirt, different types and sleeves are all jumbled together, causing even more stress. I had emphasized the importance of a sustainable system and clear labeling, but the organizer did not share my view. Though they had purchased a labeler for the project, they refused to utilize it and instead insisted that I should simply know what each item is by looking at it. However, this is not a feasible solution for me or anyone else who may need to access my closet. Ultimately, I ended up needing to separate spring blazers from winter ones myself, which compounded my frustration. Though the organizer is a kind person, it is my humble opinion that they lack fundamental knowledge when it comes to closet organization. While their design work is visually appealing, their organizing skills fall short. I now believe that my best course of action is to select someone from the National Association of Professional Organizers to ensure that they have the expertise needed to create a lasting and effective organizational system. While I recognize that some benefits were gained from working with the former organizer, I fear that this will only contribute to my anxiety, as I paid for their services without receiving a sustainable and satisfactory result.
