Julia Dina is a highly acclaimed violinist who has received praise from the Chicago Classical Review for her exceptional artistry. She has performed on stages worldwide under the direction of renowned conductors such as Valery Gergiev, Gustavo Dudamel, and Krzysztof Penderecki. Among the many prestigious venues she has performed at are the Chicago Symphony Center and the Leipzig Gewandhaus. In addition, she has collaborated with Grammy Award-winning artist Craig Terry and lyric soprano Susanna Phillips at the 2019 TwickenhamFest.
Notably, Julia recently performed as a soloist for Brahms' Double Concerto with the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra and Vienna Philharmonic principal cellist Tamás Varga. Her performances have been featured on Chicago WFMT's “Introductions” and NPR's “From the Top,” as well as in solo engagements with the Chicago Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra and the Skokie Valley Symphony Orchestra. She has also participated in major events like Make Music Chicago, Fulcrum Point, and Rocket City New Music.
Julia graduated with a Certificate in Performance from the Yale School of Music, where she was a concertmaster with the Yale Philharmonia. She has studied with renowned violinists Hyo Kang, Ilya Kaler, Shmuel Ashkenasi, Guillaume Combet, and Aurelien Pederzoli. Moreover, she has played as a concertmaster for the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra and as an assistant concertmaster for the DePaul Opera Orchestra.
Julia has also devoted herself to teaching the violin and has been a faculty member at several institutions, including the New Music School, the Montessori Academy of Chicago, and the GEMS World Academy. She has also been a Yale Teaching Artist.
Julia started playing the violin at a young age and made her orchestral debut at the age of five. She was a student at the Merit School of Music in Chicago and studied at DePaul University’s School of Music. She has been a finalist in several noteworthy competitions such as the Woolsey Competition, the DePaul Concerto Competition, and the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition.
