Description:

New students are currently being accepted for in-person lessons with masks, or online via Skype, Facetime, or Zoom. My name is Jessica and I am a professional violinist and violist with over 20 years of playing experience. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Music Performance from Shenandoah University, a Graduate Certificate in Contemporary Music from the University of Maryland Baltimore County, and I am currently completing my Masters of Music in Music Education from Boston University School of Music.

Music has been my passion since I was young, and I have been teaching violin and viola professionally for over 12 years. I encourage my students to go above and beyond and have helped them achieve spots in All-State competitions, summer festivals, talent scholarships for college and admission at highly competitive conservatories.

As a registered Suzuki violin/viola teacher, I have attended many teachers' workshops to gain the knowledge and experience necessary to work with all types of students, including those with learning disabilities. While I am a registered Suzuki teacher, I do not teach solely out of a specific method, but choose and mold every lesson depending on the student's specific strengths and weaknesses.

I am comfortable teaching all ages and levels up to advanced and use games to make learning the violin fun and accessible for young children. Older and more advanced students receive a more technical, intensive, and advanced approach. Coaching and weekly help on school assigned materials, classical, jazz, gypsy, and fiddle styles are all introduced and studied to give students a rounded technique. Music theory is incorporated into lessons, and repertoire is diverse and exciting.

They say, "Choose a job you love, and you will never work a day in your life!" I love working with each and every one of my students and their parents as they work towards their music goals. Whether it's acing school concert music, an audition, or striving to become the best musician they can be, I am truly grateful I am able to take part in my students' journeys and help them reach their goals.

For over a year, my daughter has been taking classes with Ms. Jessica, her second private instructor. This switch was due to our prior teacher's inability to improve my daughter's skills, causing us disappointment. Ms. Jessica's positivity and teaching methodology are highly regarded by us. She inspires my daughter, offers straightforward instructions for weekly improvements, and is receptive to any queries I have. My daughter has made significant strides under Ms. Jessica's tutelage, and we intend to stick with her for an extended time. I would highly recommend her.

Learning Viola as a beginner with Jessica was super fun! She demonstrated great patience with me and articulated concepts in a comprehensible manner to those unfamiliar with music.

My 10-year-old daughter had a wonderful time at Jessica's Violin & Viola Studio. Jessica's home studio was fantastic, offering a range of schedule options that suited our busy lives. Not only was Jessica skilled at working with beginners, but she also encouraged parents to become involved in their children's growth. I highly recommend her studio.

Jessica is an outstanding violin teacher who has been instructing my 5-year-old son for nearly four months. Despite other instructors refusing to work with children of his age, Jessica eagerly accepted him as a student and my son thoroughly loves his lessons. She customizes her curriculum for each particular student, and her approachable authoritative style ensures the learning of violin is both simple and enjoyable. Furthermore, her classes have had a positive impact on my son's development in areas such as concentration, motor skills, and active listening in his regular studies. The classes are very interactive for both the student and the parent and Jessica is accommodating and adaptable if cancellation or rescheduling becomes necessary. I wholeheartedly suggest her services to parents with young musicians and am personally considering lessons with her myself.
