Jamie Sharp

Jamie has been teaching my son how to play the flute for more than a year. Her instruction is comprehensive and meticulous, covering various aspects such as tone, embouchure, rhythm, theory, articulation, and musicality. She greets my son warmly and shows a genuine interest in him as an individual. My son eagerly anticipates his lessons with Jamie every time!

For quite a few years, my daughter received flute lessons from Jamie, and we were thoroughly impressed with the level of musical advancement and development she achieved during that period. Although Jamie was amiable and considerate towards my daughter, she didn't shy away from pushing her and persistently encouraged her to strive for more significant accomplishments. We are thankful for all the efforts Jamie invested in my daughter's education and acknowledge her as an outstanding teacher and skilled musician.

For six years, my son has been playing the flute. Recently, his playing ability has significantly improved in a short period of time. Almost immediately after starting flute lessons, he demonstrated a noticeable improvement in his technique. Previously, he played the notes adeptly, but now he has developed a greater comprehension of how he desires to interpret them and deliver them with various expressions. Although I do not understand all the technical details, I can observe that my son is experiencing more enjoyment while playing and his sound is exceptional. Jamie, thank you for providing your expertise in teaching the flute!

Discovering Jamie was an unbelievable stroke of luck! She was the perfect fit to teach our daughter, guiding her from her strong beginning level to a proficient intermediate level on the flute. It's unfortunate that our time with her was cut short due to the pandemic, as Jamie's brilliance in teaching college-level aspects of the flute had the potential to lead our daughter even further. Her instruction improved our daughter's form, posture, breathing, and sound. As a paying parent, I was extremely pleased with Jamie's focused approach to teaching. She always made the most of the half hour we spent with her, never wasting a moment. Her punctuality, and the fact that she came to our house for lessons, was a major bonus. Jamie's communication skills were exceptional, and she was both competent and positive, patient, and kind with her teaching approach. She exhibited professionalism, demonstrating an understanding, not only of the flute, but of teaching in general. Our daughter was inspired to learn even more after every session with Jamie, and as a result, she has taught herself four major songs on the flute since working with Jamie, a testament to the great learning experiences she had with Jamie and her previous teacher, who initially introduced her to the instrument. We hope to have the opportunity to use Jamie's services in the future as our daughter progresses through school, and potentially toward a music scholarship. Currently, she is in middle school wind symphony, which is great and keeps her practicing, but I regret not witnessing the impressive solo recital pieces that Jamie would have challenged her to achieve.
