Bess Dallal is a primary care provider and nationally licensed acupuncturist based in Oregon. With almost 20 years of experience in both academic and clinical settings, Bess has had the privilege of studying under numerous veteran natural medicine practitioners, giving her a multifaceted perspective on holistic medicine. She holds a Master's degree in Science from The Academy of Chinese Culture and Health Sciences in Oakland, CA, and a Bachelor's degree from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, where she studied medicine-related topics such as Botany, herbalism, music therapy, and anthropology.
Through various internships, Bess has developed her own diverse style as a practitioner, drawing inspiration from Naturopathic, Indigenous, Ayurvedic, Anthroposophic, and Chinese Medicine. Her experience has spanned across different medical settings, including working in the hospice at the Laguna Honda Rehabilitation Center, with IVF patients at UCSF, and in private practice as an acupuncturist. Her yoga training is in Embodyoga, and she has studied under various mentors in Northern India, the Shadow yoga tradition, and Patricia Townsend in MA.
Bess believes that acupuncture is the most accessible integrative modality in terms of improving equity in healthcare. She prioritizes working collaboratively with other healthcare professionals across specializations to enhance patients' coordination of care. Bess stresses that the type of medicine used in the healing process is less important than the experience of the medicinal process itself. Therefore she aims to preserve the deep roots of Chinese and natural medicine while maintaining flexibility in finding the most effective treatments for each unique person. She emphasizes defining clear roles in the practitioner-patient relationship and empowering patients to take charge of their own health.
When not practicing medicine, Bess spends quality time with her family, exploring Oregon and creating things. Her extensive travels throughout Asia, the Middle East, Central America, and Europe have strongly influenced her perspective on the various ways people can find satisfaction, health, and an integrated relationship with nature.
