Description:

I go by the name of Gil Del Bosque and am currently offering saxophone and clarinet lessons exclusively through FaceTime, Skype, Zoom, or other online platforms. With 15 years of experience, I have earned a master's degree from the University of Texas at Austin as well as a bachelor's degree from the University of North Texas in Denton. My knowledge extends across both classical and jazz genres, having played in several TMEA All State bands during high school.

As a professional musician and private tutor in the ATX area, I have played in esteemed jazz venues including the Elephant Room, Brass House, One 2 One, and Sullivan's Steakhouse—with both solo performances and collaborations with some of ATX's top jazz artists. With a student clientele of 40 ranging from ages 11 to 30, I have also conducted masterclasses for students of all levels from elementary to college-bound.

I am passionate about teaching and playing my instruments and enjoy being a student of music as well. Head over to my website, Facebook page, or YouTube channel for audio and video recordings, and feel free to contact me for your free, 30-minute introductory lesson to see if I am a good fit for you!

During the three years that I took private saxophone lessons with Mr. Del Bosque, he proved to be an excellent teacher who can equip you with all that is required to excel in saxophone playing. His teaching focuses on the fundamentals such as scales, arpeggios, tonal exercises, and others. With Mr. Del Bosque's guidance, I was able to make it to the TMEA All Region Band. However, I thought that the pace of his teaching was a bit slow for my liking, but that is just a personal preference and varies from person to person. Overall, I would highly recommend Mr. Del Bosque as a teacher for anyone who is starting out in saxophone playing or is seeking professional assistance in the craft.

Gil has been providing my son with private saxophone instruction for more than three years, and his assistance has been invaluable. Gil is an excellent instructor who is adaptable and accommodating, as well as being incredibly knowledgeable and skilled. He treats his students with respect and kindness, and is always clear in his expectations. I would wholeheartedly endorse Gil to anyone seeking exceptional saxophone instruction.

Gil del Bosque is an experienced teacher and diagnostician who stays grounded in reality. He is also a saxophonist who performs in Austin, which helps him focus on helping his students create the music and sound they desire. While he provides "academic" information, the main goal is to help students achieve their desired sound and music. During my first lesson with Gil, he quickly identified critical embouchure issues that significantly improved my practice that week. In subsequent lessons, Gil continued to identify and correct issues, leading to noticeable improvements each time. As someone who values sound quality, I am pleased to hear improvements each week. One aspect I appreciate about Gil's teaching style is his flexibility and reality-based approach. He works from where each student is, regardless of how much practice they have had. Gil doesn't waste time reviewing practice schedules; he focuses on the next step. Assignments may not be exciting, but they are effective and rewarding because they lead to progress. Gil also manages to work well with the child in me, who gets excited about playing saxophone. However, he keeps our discussions on an adult level. Regardless of age or how long it has been since my last music lesson or class, I am making progress with Gil's guidance.
