My name is Nicole and I'm an experienced and certified French (and Spanish) teacher from Paris, with near-native fluency in Spanish after living in Colombia for 7 years. I'm based in the Chicago area and primarily teach through Zoom.
Teaching and languages have always been my passions. I love learning about my students and sharing my knowledge of French and Spanish languages and cultures with them. Over the last 18 years, I've taught and tutored students of all ages and levels of proficiency. The best part of being a French teacher is that I get to teach a valuable life skill. I know that learning a new language can be intimidating, but with patience and personalized instruction, I've helped many students become fluent in a relaxed, engaging, and well-structured learning environment.
My teaching approach focuses on getting students to speak and use the language in real-life situations, whether for conversation, travel, career advancement, academic achievement, or personal growth. I personalize each session to cater to different learning styles and interests, using a variety of engaging resources to prompt conversation and comprehension. My method is lively, memorable, and creative, allowing students to quickly progress in their speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills.
I prioritize conversation while also teaching grammar in context and expanding vocabulary. I provide customized, engaging materials for practice in a virtual classroom available to you at your convenience. Homework assignments allow you to reflect and build upon what you've learned.

I enrolled in Nicole's course to brush up on my French before my upcoming trip this autumn and I am extremely satisfied with my experience. Our weekly online lessons are mostly conducted in French, which makes them both stimulating and fulfilling. Nicole is skilled at discovering a range of online resources, including audio and video tools, as well as printed materials, all of which are compelling during our sessions and when I am studying independently.
