Description:

Please take note that I am not available to teach in the city during weekday or weekend evenings. Instead, I live in the East Bay and teach from afternoons until early evenings. I am a tennis instructor with 37 years of experience and I thoroughly enjoy sharing my passion for the sport with students of all ages and skill levels.

My client base has significantly grown thanks to the help of CrackerJack and I am proud to have received over 90 five-star ratings. While my lessons are informative and instructional, I find that having fun is a crucial part of the learning process and therefore, I emphasize enjoyment throughout each session.

Back in 2014, I relocated from New York to the West Coast to be closer to my family and avoid the heavy snow. I successfully continue to teach tennis in the East Bay and San Francisco area, but unfortunately, my schedule does not allow me to travel outside of these regions.

Before pursuing tennis instruction full-time, I taught high school English and journalism while coaching the varsity boys and girls teams since 1985. Leaving the New York tennis scene was not easy, but I am grateful to have established strong relationships with tennis players here on the West Coast.

Fred is such an enjoyable companion to spend time with and acquire knowledge from. Despite not having engaged in tennis for an extended duration, our initial session with Fred stimulated our interest in scheduling additional lessons and honing our abilities separately.

Over the Summer, Fred has been my tennis instructor, and it has been an incredible experience. Initially, when I first met Fred, I was a novice, equipped with only a new tennis racket. Now, six weeks later, I can confidently say that thanks to his professional teaching, I have improved considerably in areas such as my forehand, backhand, serve, and footwork. Fred ensured not to overwhelm me by teaching everything at a steady pace. Although I'm not the quickest learner, he continuously encouraged me never to give up and to persevere, providing me with invaluable feedback that allowed me to enhance my techniques. I am grateful to have found such an excellent tennis teacher in Fred.

Fred is an exceptional teacher who has successfully instructed all three of my young adolescent children in tennis simultaneously. In spite of being novices, they have now acquired flawless swings. Fred's teaching technique is truly remarkable, as he was able to make them proficient in just a few sessions. His expertise in tennis is not limited to just playing; it also involves imparting his skills effectively to others. During the challenging times of Covid, working with Fred turned out to be a blessing for me and my children, as he got them interested in exercising while acquiring tennis knowledge.

After just one session with Fred, I am completely enthralled! The hour flew by and I realized that, despite years of playing tennis, I lacked proper knowledge of the game's fundamental techniques–namely, footwork, racquet path, and shuffle steps. In just the first 20 minutes, Fred astutely pinpointed where I faltered most and then clearly demonstrated how to improve. Though not flashy, proper footwork promises increased consistency and confidence on the court, so I was thrilled to focus on it. By the end of our time together, my forehand had drastically improved. I can't wait to work on my backhand and serve next with Fred's guidance! Leaving the court buzzing with energy and excitement, I know I've found the perfect coach.
