Douglas Benson Ferry, an award-winning international and state-level violinist, began his studies at just three years old with renowned pedagogue Deborah Moench. He continued his education with Ralph Matson, former Concertmaster of the Utah Symphony, before pursuing a degree in music at Brigham Young University under the instruction of Associate Professor Monte Belknap. Douglas is a certified violin instructor through the Suzuki Association of Utah and has over a decade of teaching experience. His passion for the instrument is evident in his desire to bring the gift of music to students of all ages and abilities.
Karen Lela Ferry is an accomplished violinist in her own right. As a sophomore at the Cleveland Institute of Music, Karen studies with Jan Sloman and Stephen Rose, having previously studied under Ralph Matson and Deborah Moench. Karen has performed as a soloist with the Utah Philharmonic Orchestra and Utah Symphony, with the latter twice as a paid guest artist. Karen also received a full scholarship to study at the Gifted Music School, where she had the opportunity to play alongside world-renowned artists and was featured on NPR’s “From the Top.” Karen is committed to maintaining her academic excellence with a 4.0 GPA while pursuing her passion for music and leadership as a member of Student Government.
